FRANKSTOWN TWP FIREMAN'S RELIEF ASSOCIATION:

The Fireman's Relief Association was created in 1932 by a law passed by the State of Pennsylvania Assembly to provide relief to firemen of the state.  A Fireman's Association was created in Frankstown Township at that time and it has served the needs of the volunteer firemen of Frankstown Township at Geeseytown Fire Company since.  Funds are allocated by the State to each municipality based on formula that gets it money from a 2% "foreign" fire tax imposed by the state to fund the Relief Associations.  These funds are then used to buy insurance and equipment as each Association see fit in the support of the members of each municipal fire company or department.  The State provides audits performed by the Auditor General's office to make sure the funds are properly handled and managed.
